UPS
Power problems by their very nature are unpredictable and power quality varies across the world. A major European capital like London can expect up to 30 power quality issues per annum and this is forecast to rise, with an expected power generation of only 80% by 2012. We can provide your business with a full range of standard and application specific power systems. Systems range from small ‘rack mounted’ style units to free standing systems designed to support whole office spaces.
Standby Power Generators
Safeguarding against a total electrical mains failure is vital. As a trained installer of Standby Power Generators, the careful assessment of location and environmental issues are primary questions for our design team, who will specify the most suitable and economical solution. Air Conditioning / HVAC
Modern servers have made a huge impact on the cooling requirements of Data Centres.
Simply cooling a computer room is no longer adequate. Using intelligent design INS Sudlows can direct precise airflow to ensure that cool air targets the ‘hot zones’ within the server racks and expels it from the room. The noticeable benefits are a more efficient cooling system, which in turn reduces power requirements with immediate cost benefits.
This intelligent design guarantees that the layout of the room guides the flow of cool air through the racks removing the temptation to install additional cooling equipment thus reducing the long term economic and environmental costs that these bring.
Fire Suppression
Any fire in a data centre can critically effect the operation of companies.
INS Sudlows can ensure fire prevention through good design and planning meaning that companies now have the ability to detect fires, via sophisticated monitoring and then suppressing them before they take hold. Early warning detection systems such as VESDA are recommended to monitor both the air quality and prevent unnecessary gas discharge.
Modern suppression systems deploy either a chemical coolant or inert gas (such as the non-toxic Argonite). It is important to note that this system utilises an extraction system in the event of deployment.
Room Construction
Our modular ‘Room within a Room’ designs can bring immediate benefits to the difficulties and downtime of rebuilding or expanding an existing/new computer room. The Modular systems can be assembled around your existing infrastructure with the benefits of Coolant, Security and Fire Proofing.
Raised Access Flooring
We can design and build the correct flooring system to accommodate IT systems. Regularly overlooked, this integral component of the room can often be expected to withstand substantial weight loads.
INS Sudlows will give consideration to the weight capacity, accessibility, fire ratings, acoustics, aesthetics and the electrical properties.
Suspended Ceilings
INS Sudlows design and install ceilings to meet the requirements of associated services within the room, taking into account the lighting requirements, cooling and fire suppression.
Access Control & Security Systems
Physical security is a fundamental requirement of any data holding area, this is true of data centres and security systems should be installed to the correct standards. British Standards data protection guidelines outline the specific needs for these environments and should be integrated with Health & Safety systems.
INS Sudlows offers access control systems ranging from simple locking mechanisms and escalating to sophisticated door entry systems.
General & Emergency Lighting
We provide a complete service including full system design and installation for the data room environment compliant to the CIBSE guide. This ensures the correct type of lux output and diffusion. Emergency lighting systems are installed and commissioned to comply with BS5266.
General Power
We provide a full design and installation service for all general power requirements ranging from perimeter solutions through to dedicated rack supplies. Here, aesthetics, accessibility and functionality are key factors.
Racking Systems & Data Cabinet Solutions
IT equipment designed with efficient rack mounting capabilities to maximise the utilisation of valuable floor space has created a need to concentrate equipment within that finite space. This has drawn attention to power distribution, cooling, and cable management at rack level. Various options are available from us to accommodate these demands and include ‘3 into 2’ style units through to high density cooling systems.
Power Management & Load Balancing
With the high cost of data centre floor space and current advances in technology, new installations with denser cabinets that require more power continue to be the trend. The required power depends on the equipment, how dense the cabinet is and whether redundancy is needed. Devices such as intelligent PDU’s and monitored UPS systems allow control of the critical supply.
INS Sudlows offers Cabinet Power Distribution Units (CDUs) when designing data centres. These Metered, Smart and Switched CDUs provide many solutions to common data centre problems including cable management, temperature and humidity monitoring, circuit overload prevention and remote reboot capabilities.
Testing
Current legislation, namely the electricity at works regulations, requires that all electrical installations are tested and inspected. Electrical testing and inspection can be fully undertaken by our projects team with full in-depth reports highlighting clearly any defects present within an existing location.
