Blown Fibre
Blown Fibre has become the established backbone to high building infrastructures and is now a primary asset to the cabling industry due to its ease of use in both the installation and removal process. This is because of the sheer ease associated with using this type of fibre compared to that of traditional.
Why INS?
INS Sudlows particularly has remarkable experience in this industry, training specialised Blown Fibre Technicians so that we can even provide exceptional design and installation to meet your requirements. Recently manufacturing new Fibre for Manchester University that could be used both internally and externally, we are world leaders in Blown Fibre Technology.
What is it?
A Blown Fibre solution comprises of a series of unpopulated PVC tubes which can then be easily loaded (or unloaded) with a bundle of fibre cores as required. It contains empty plastic tubes that are then occupied with bundles of fibre cores and can be blown up to an average distance of 600m. The blowing distance is dependent on a variety factors, including the tube size, airflow, pressure, number of bends in the cable, location in the route, weather conditions (i.e. summer or winter) and the number of bundles within the casing.
What applications is it suitable for?
It is ideally suited for large campus designs, for example, hospital estates, universities and industrial business parks. These short route applications with numerous small branch outs enable future proofing, unlike Conventional cable, for the likely changes to the diverse Blown Fibre tube network. This is because the fibre can easily be blown into (or out of) the tubing system using air compression equipment, to be redeployed or replaced with alternative bundle arrangements of different fibre types without disruption to businesses in the long term.
Will the installation be worth my while?
Blown Fibre negates the use of Conventional Fibre; it is easy to add new fibres, remove them or re-route in consideration of the ever-changing environment of the business (be it extensions to the main site or changes in location of servers). This provides increased flexibility with respect to your contingency plan.
This flexibility provides a truly scalable communications asset. By using our specialised blowing equipment, bundles of up to 12 fibres can be delivered into each tube; the fibres are set in a buffer layer, which provides excellent dimensional and thermal stability. The latest developments in technology mean that OM3+ Fibre can deliver 10GB/s up to 550 metres .
