Stockport Primary Care Trust
About Stockport Primary Care Trust
The Trust was created on 1 April 2001.
It works with the local community and health partners,
for example, doctors, dentists, opticians and pharmacists, hospitals
and social services, to deliver health services that are responsive
to the needs of local people. The PCT is responsible for: improving
the health of Stockport people; commissioning hospital services;
and developing primary care and community services.
The Project
As part of the National CoIN programme for the
NHS, INS Sudlows was awarded the project to upgrade the entire network
infrastructure across the entire trust. This involved the design
and rollout of a complete structured cabling system that would provide
the trust with the capability to deliver the level of electronic
services, including the electronic Patient Records scheme as required
by the NHS national policy
The Installation
As part of the upgrade to the entire Stockport
NHS System, INS Sudlows installed over 1,000 Molex Cat5e UTP outlets
and installed Fibre connections to a number of Trust sites. The
project involved a level of asbestos assessments as some of the
older buildings contained asbestos fibres.
To Conclude
Upon completion of the CoIN installation, Carl
Ambrose, IT Manager of Stockport PCT concluded that
“INS Sudlows have been integral in the implementation
and roll out of Stockport PCTs Community of Interest Network (CoIN).
They have provided new cabinets at 76 sites to accommodate the CoIN
equipment to support data and IP telephony. Existing cabling has
been re-located into the new cabinets and additional cabling provided
as required. They have installed quality copper and fibre networks
into 7 floors of the PCT's new headquarters at Regent House We find
INS Sudlows staff to be professional, flexible and sensitive to
the requirements of busy clinical and administrative sites.”
